After six years since its reveal as a prototype, the supercar De Tomaso P72 is finally ready to hit the streets.
The Italian manufacturer, which made a comeback in 2019, confirmed that the first production units of the model will be delivered this year.
The car’s design remains faithful to the original concept, inspired by the classic De Tomaso P70 from 1965, combining curvy lines with luxurious rose gold details and retro-style wheels. The chassis is made from a single continuous piece of carbon fiber, without welds or adhesives, which, according to the brand, sets a new standard for structural purity.
Inside, the P72 stands out for its simplicity and elegance: there are no screens or multimedia systems, just analog instruments in machined aluminum, hand-stitched white leather, and refined finishes. The aim is to offer a pure driving experience, focused on driver involvement.
Under the hood, the model features a 5.0 supercharged V8 engine producing 700 hp, paired with a six-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. De Tomaso has not disclosed performance figures, emphasizing that the car was not made to break speed records but to provide a unique driving experience. The suspension with manually adjustable shock absorbers allows customization to the driver’s liking.
The price has not yet been revealed, but it is expected to be quite high.
